Dealing with People Wounds

Have you ever put hand sanitizer on an open cut by mistake? Whoa, it really stings! The same emotional sting often bombards us in a multitude of ways throughout the day or weeks or even years.

How do we handle this wounding?

Self medicate?

Eat?

Shop?

Have an affiar or flirtation?

Or maybe we try to breathe, "be in the moment", practice "mindfulness".

All better than the other options.

But there are times, seasons and years of wounding that just don't seem to go away. The Psalmist wrote, "Oh that I had wings like a dove for then I could fly away and be at rest".

Sounds good to me but sometimes we don't have the option to escape.

Then there's confrontaion of the person who caused the afflication. Careful with this one if the other party is hard of heart, in deep denial or just plain toxic.

So what do we do when the usual options aren't the best choice and we continue to bleed years on end?

We may cry out to the Holy Wonderful Counselor and His voice seems silent. This may be the time to turn to a spiritual director or coach. This is a time to learn how to settle all the noise and posture yourself to hear God. In Transformation Prayer Ministry, we learn how to lean into these emotions and allow God to idenify the belief we formed that is based in a lie. The initial wound itself it not the cause for your present emotional pain, it is what you believe about the event that continues the sting.

Let me state that another way, our negative emotions are indicators of our lie based beliefs. So let's allow God to reveal to us deep in the spirit or heart realm the truth that really will set us free.

Selah...pause and calmly think of that...
