Recently my husband and I decided to take up kyaking. It has given me a new found sense of freedom, empowerment and joy to add to my list of favorite activities (eating out and shopping lol). I'm glad we took the step, the harbor close to us has some very strong currents and they carry you effortlessly and with much ease. The problem is paddling back against the current, that can be challenging and even an obstacle in terms of trying something new.
I can't help but think of the spiritual analogy, so many times in my life I have felt like I am going against the current, swimming upstream like a salmon and putting a lot of effort in without a lot of fruit. Have you ever felt the same way?
Most likely if you wear human skin you can relate and shout a hearty, Amen! The older I get and the more mature my walk with God becomes I am realizing that this upstream, against the current living is not God's design for me (and it's only taken 64 years to come to that realization!).
So here comes the good part, have you ever noticed the times when your flowing in the river of God's grace? It's effortless and has a natural flow. Unlike the fleshly efforts and "try to make it happen" Ishmaels I've conjured up, the steady, peaceful river of God's grace and plan for me is what I want going forward. I'm sure you feel the same way.
So if your tired of default mode and want to learn the "unforced rhythms of His grace" , I encourage you to join us Thursday October 7th at the East Wind, Wading River for our mini retreat, "Beloved and Transformed" and/or the Transformation Prayer Workshops I am offering online starting Saturday October 2 at 10:30-11:15.
