Maybe this is YOU, "I go to church week after week, year after year, I do all the right things, the formulas, the programs and yet something is missing....nothing ever really changes, I'm beginning to think this whole idea of heart transformation is just a big hoax".
These are not the things we can openly admit in polite company, at the coffee hour or even in small group. Especially if you have any position of leadership, you dare not admit your vulnerability, your doubts and your innermost truth. You feel like the scared lost little lamb but the Shepherd has somehow gotten lost in the "game", the people pleasing, the image management. You were happy that covid kept you away from the "church rat race" for a while but the answers did not seem to come even in the long hiatus. Now we are all back, gearing up for new visions, programs and people politics- you ask, "how is this much different from the world, where do I fit in, where is the intimacy I long for in Christ?"
YOU ARE NOT ALONE, even though you feel alone. God has designed our emotions, even our not so pleasant ones as a signal that something is askew, so rather than medicate them in another weary round of activity (ministry et al), why not begin the journey with the Holy Spirit to follow them to a place where you position yourself to receive His truth about your core beliefs. When we start the courageous journey inward and give Him permission to sweep out the old cobwebs we start the process of true heart renovation. It is the Holy Spirit alone who persuades us of the truth we know in our heads but has not reached our heart to make the real life manifestion of His personhood in us.

Future Calling? This fall I plan to introduce what I call the Head to Heart Coaching Model open to Coaches, lay ministry womem or anyone who wants to start this journey based on Philippians Chapter 3. What things that were formally gain to you can you now count as loss for the supreme privledge of knowing HIM, the resurrection power and yes even the divine consolation of His sufferings (our suffering is never wasted in His economy)?
